About
Led by Niyel in Senegal, the Initiative for the Development of Artificial Intelligence (IDAI) was a research project aimed at addressing the lack of data, evidence, and strategic focus on artificial intelligence (AI) in Francophone Africa. The project played a crucial role in advancing responsible AI adoption by fostering research, policy development, and capacity-building initiatives tailored to the region’s unique context and needs.
Subprojects
Ami and Abu is an African animated series created to help families understand Artificial Intelligence in a simple, relatable, and engaging way.
Set in the warm, everyday relationship between Abu, a wise grandfather, and Ami, his curious and playful granddaughter, the series presents AI not as something abstract or intimidating, but as a practical tool woven into daily life.
Through humor, storytelling, and familiar situations, Ami and Abu shows that AI is a shared human experience that can be explored together, across generations.
